NURTURE GROUPS

Connection, Confidence & Belonging

Nurture Groups are neurodiversity-affirming group programs designed to support authentic connection, shared interests, confidence, communication, regulation, independence and participation. Our groups are facilitated by experienced Speech Pathologists, Occupational Therapists and Allied Health Assistants, with a strong focus on safety, belonging and meaningful participation.

More than a social group

Our groups are designed around connection, interests and participation — not masking, compliance, or teaching children to appear more “typical”. We support people to connect in ways that feel safe, meaningful and authentic.

Our Approach

We create supportive group environments where participants can explore shared interests, practise functional skills, build confidence, and experience connection without pressure to perform socially.

Connection Without Masking

We support authentic connection and belonging, while respecting different communication styles, energy levels and social preferences.

Regulation-Aware

Group sessions are planned with sensory needs, transitions, emotional safety, breaks and co-regulation in mind.

Interest-Based

We use shared interests, play, creativity, movement and real-life activities to make participation meaningful and motivating.

Clinician-Led

Groups are facilitated by therapists and AHAs who can scaffold communication, sensory regulation, participation and peer connection.

Group goals are individualised where possible and may include communication, regulation, social connection, independence, confidence, community participation or shared-interest engagement.

Group Options

Our group offerings may change across school holidays and terms depending on participant needs, interests and clinician availability.

Groups designed around people, not programs

We consider participant profiles, goals, support needs, sensory preferences and group fit before offering a place. This helps us create groups that feel safer, more supportive and more meaningful.

Who Groups May Suit

Nurture Groups may be suitable for children, teens, young adults or families who would benefit from connection, supported participation, shared interests or structured practice in a safe and affirming environment.

Children Seeking Connection

For children who want connection but may find group settings, peer interactions or busy environments difficult to navigate.

Neurodivergent Participants

For autistic, ADHD, PDA-profile or otherwise neurodivergent children and young people who benefit from affirming, flexible supports.

Participants Building Confidence

For those wanting to build confidence with communication, play, independence, transitions, community access or shared activities.

Families Seeking Support

For families wanting practical strategies, connection, education or support around neurodivergence, regulation, school participation or advocacy.

We carefully consider group fit. Some participants may benefit from individual therapy first, or a different support option, before joining a group.

How It Works

Our group intake process helps us understand each participant and match them to a group that is likely to feel safe, supportive and meaningful.

1. Register Interest

Families complete an enquiry or waitlist form so we can understand the participant’s goals, interests and support needs.

2. Clinical Review

Our team reviews suitability, goals, risk factors, sensory needs, communication needs and potential group fit.

3. Group Offer

If a suitable group is available, our team will contact you with details including location, dates, cost and goals.

4. Supported Participation

Group sessions are facilitated by our team with support for regulation, communication, access, participation and connection.
