1. Speech Pathologist (Full-Time)

Job description

The Nurture Team, a neurodivergent-led neuroaffirming practice, is supportive, tight knit and passionate about helping children flourish and grow, to give them a better shot at learning and build strong relationships to lead a fuller life.

Neuroaffirming approaches are at the core of what we do. We are always learning more about the neurodiversity movement and changing the way we work to align better with neuroaffirming practices and be a strong ally for neurodivergents. The Nurture team presume competence, respect sensory differences and body autonomy of children. Nurture aims to implement practices that are respectful, culturally competent, trauma-sensitive and empathetic. We do not use/engage in compliance training in therapy as it has been reported by the autistic community that it is trauma-inducing (often leading to PTSD). We adopt strength-based approaches and reporting (avoiding ableist language use), and work on neurodiversity affirming goals (such as self-advocacy).

We predominantly work with children from our Beulah Park & Salisbury clinic with some school visits. We have a mixed caseload of NDIS Participants and private paying clients. You will have the opportunity to assess and provide therapy in the following areas: speech, language, communication, pragmatics, play, literacy, AAC and feeding.
